Tags for those Fun Exchange Days in December

I've started getting tags ready for those fun Exchange Days in December.  My DCD friend, Linda sent me some cuts, so I will have some wonderful tags.  The one below is actually made into a small card so you can write a message inside.

By the Way, THIS IS A CARD - two die cuts glued together at the top.
The card uses Artistro gold marker on the bell, while the tags are done with Copic markers.  I thought there should be snow falling over the bell.

I showed these tags to some friends and a friend wondered why I spent so much work on a tag.  She asked if I thought anyone saved a tag and thought it was too much work to put into a tag.  I was just having fun and using up snips of paper that I had in my leftovers.  I really had to think.  Because the tags I make are usually for family members, they can be reused.  Our family re-uses Christmas wrapping paper and when we can, also the tags, but if the tag is for someone else, I don't find it offensive or wasted time if someone throws the tag out.  They would have enjoyed the tag (I hope) and gotten the joy from it.

Here Come The Parameters for my 61st card.
Project: 6" X 6" Card - yes, it's big!
Colors: Rainbow - background especially

I looked through all my stamps (forgot to check my wood stamps, but I don't think any are single flowers) and here is the only one I could find from the Waffle Flower stencils.  I rearranged the postage die cuts all kinds of different ways and finally got this and I'm happy with it.  I haven't seen too many elephants or mice eating cupcakes, but they are here.  The white Nuvo drops took on the mostly blue color of the background and even though it's an accident, I really love the hint of blue.

The Challenge for this month at Die Cut Divas is Flowers

I'm so happy I chose this Altenew Build A Garden stamp and die set as I can color it's perfect to color with my Copic markers.  I love the 3D embossing folder which gives so much depth.  I know you don't see me using flowers very much, but I do so love this flower set that I made another card.

Letting Your Rustic Side Out

I again found myself at Craft Roulette figuring out the best way to use the categories in episode # 169 which featured the following:
Product: See Through - Acetate window
Colors: Rustic Garden - Distress inks & woman's dress
Element: Fashion - Fashion woman image
Random: Hexagon - Beehive

The only hexagon shape I had was the beehive that I didn't have to cut by hand.  Obviously I cut a hole and used an acetate sheet for my window.   I had cut two by mistake and also cut a hole in another piece of paper to match the oval on the fron of the card.  I won't go into how that didn't work out for me trying to glue what I thought was one acetate piece to the paper piece.  I began again and just taped the entire front inside of the card and stuck the acetate to the inside.  Not Pretty, but for right now, I am DONE with it.  Perhaps I'll let a week go bye and calmly consider how to cover the tape up from the inside.  LOL

Seasons Greetings on a Christmas Kickstart Month

I'm the elf for the Christmas Kickstart Challenge this month.  This challenge is always about Christmas and this month, it's also about MINI-SLIMLINE cards, so get ready, get set, GO!

As guest, I was able to choose the challenge of the month, so if you don't like mini-slimline cards, blame me!  I'll gladly take the blame.  

The challenge starts May 2nd at 10:30 a.m. GMT or 2:30 a.m. Pacific time, San Francisco, USA and ends May 30th.  

The card base for a mini slimline card is typically 3" X 6" (7.63 X 15.24 cm).   These are approximate sizes and we won't be checking to see if your card meets the exact standard for either size. )

I decided to make a simple but fun card for my first card - first? - yes, I had to make two.  I used the same darling Santa in both my mini-slimline cards.

Happy New Year and New Things.With Kat Scrappiness

When I visited Kat Scrappiness the first time, I couldn't do without buying something and also the 2nd time, etc.  I hope you enjoy everything as much as I do.

My first card for 2020 is a Congratulations card for a friend who is retiring and a very funny friend.  I think she'll get a kick out of this card.

I didn't know what I would do with this zig zag die shape at first, but just went with the flow and cut the card,  cut a scrap paper, then sponged Antique Linen onto the inside of the card using the scrap paper as a template.  Then I started playing around with some other dies in different colors.  For some reason, I kept putting this mandala die on, so that cemented the basic design.  I knew I had colored some Crazy Birds and found one that fit perfectly.  For such a simple card, it took me two whole weeks to come up with what I wanted.  It turned out very cute.

Inside below.  Plenty of space to say we're birds of a feather.

I've had this Tim Holtz calendar for more than three years and with working, stamping and otherwise busy, I only took it out and said I'll get to it later.  Later finely came.  And YES, it took a lot of time to cover everything with patterned paper, then determine what die cuts to use on each paper, cut the images and finally arrange and attached them, keeping in mind what patterns and images might be next to the tab I was working on.  Most of the time, the tabs work well together.

Card Chain Challenge time

I sent my CCC card to Helen in Ohio and she has received it.  I had fun with a  Tim Holtz stamp and matching die set.I have always loved these birds and I finally purchased the stamp and the die set.  I just have not had the time to stamp and cut them, before this month.  It really was so much fun. 

I colored and cut several cut items on this bird.  The wing is a separate die cut and the eyes/beak is a separate die cut piece, cutting one eye and an eye and beak together.  It's pretty darn cool.

I used some of the Elizabeth Craft Design "Through the Lens" papers because they are so cool too.

Took a Class,Made a Village

Aren't these cute?  I took a class and had some fun making a holiday village.  I think the trees are a nice touch.  We even went so far as to sparkle the trees!  Don't you like the finishing touch of putting a bell into the top window on the left, like a belfry?  I love the papers and all the wonderful embellishments.

 We used a brown paper tape that seemed more heavy duty than just tape.

I really like this, such a happy pattern and village.

I picked the camera brads up at either Michaels or Hobby Lobby.  I thought they would be perfect for a holiday.  You'd have to be going on holiday with that much luggage.  

The two keys are die-cut from an aluminum soda can. I thought the striped paper was striking.  The "hello" is a bit hard to see, but it works.  I colored the luggage with Copic markers.  Hope you like this.  I think it works.

Copics and Tim Holtz - What a Grand Idea!

Cogs and wheels, oh my!  An inspector comes to haunt Hot August Nights.  A TIM HOLTZ inspector...  I have to tell you I had my social Copic coloring class today.  This kind of class you have to love.  You bring what you want to color and if you are bringing something that you're having trouble with, you have the teacher there to assist you.  AND she makes lunch for us.  There were 15 people and Susan always makes a salad when it's a warm/hot day.  Salad just does not convey the meal.  This woman makes the most unusual and DELICIOUS salads I have ever had.  Today we also had sandwiches, the bread I need to write the name down because I've never had it before.  YUM!... oh, we colored too!  Since I wanted to make a card for today, I colored my man and put him together tonight.

 Doesn't he just remind you of a Sherlock Holmes?  I think this turned out quite good.  I really like coloring this on watercolor paper with Tim Holtz' Distress markers and a wet brush, but I do like the way this turned out.  Be sure to visit Die Cut Divas.
