Morgan's ArtWorld October Challenge

I know it's supposed to be Autumn and Halloween, but I just couldn't help but color an image more spring-like.

This is all about spring greens and yells and oranges.  This lady is certainly interesting and I love her outfit (I think the leggings are darling).  Who doesn't like a fairy in leggings?

Have fun with your "Anything Goes" challenge at Morgan's ArtWorld Open Challenge blog.

I sponged frayed burlap all over the woodgrain die-cut and then thought it too light so added some touches of vintage photo.  I wanted to use my new stencil and create a nice design on the cup and tattered rose seemed the perfect color for an old-fashioned cup of cocoa, coffee or tea.  The rest kind of fell into place.  I used a lot of different dies on this, but I am SO HAPPY I purchased the new HA Woodgrain Die.because you can also emboss with the die - here is a YouTube video.

A2Z In the Study

A2Z has a Clean and Simple challenge for September and I thought I'd use the lovely chair in "In the Study" clear stamp set might work out well.  The sentiment on the books worked out well here too.  Nothing goes better with a stuffed chair than a good book or two.  I drew a line under both stamped images to ground them and tie them together.

This is my inspiration card at A2Z Scrapbooking.

Time for the Duel at A2Z

Yes, We are still having fun with dueling at A2Z Scrapbooking..  Char is my dueling cousin.and I can't wait to see what she created with 7th Heaven digital kit.  I usually print out several different sizes of images I might want to play with  Sometimes the images sit on my desk for a day, week, or month.  I created the first card with "cloud nine" and I liked the template so well that the second card made itself.

When I saw this background paper, I knew what I wanted to use it for.  I already had the kit images printed out.

I cut the image slightly larger than the first one and used the same off-the-edge style as my first card.

CCC August Reveal

I know Altenew is known for it's flowers, but I fell in love with this lighthouse scene.  I like flowers, but I'm a sucker for lighthouses and scenes even though I don't do them all that often.  This wonderful set made it easy for me.  One of the challenges with Card Chain Challenge was to use a lighthouse.  The sentiment from Elizabeth Craft Designs went perfectly with a seaside scene.

I surprised myself by using a lavender for the sky, but I find I like it.

Supplies:
Altenew stamp set (looks like it's not in stock)
Elizabeth Craft Designs Ahoy stamp set
Copic markers:  see - B21& BG23, Sand on island - E11,  sky - BV0000 & BV000
trees & grassy area - GG24 & G24 & colorless blender & lighthouse - T0

Retirement for our Mailman 20 year Career

Our mailman is retiring with 20 years of service and I know he's delivered mail to my house (both of them) for at least 15 years.  He's a great guy and always friendly to everyone he meets.

He was telling me the other day that he's seen children grow up and move back to the area.  It looks like he's really going to miss seeing all the people he's seen for years.  I know we'll miss him too.

Here's the card I made for him.  I had the neighborhood sign the card and we' gave him a gift card for all his years of service to our community.  On his last day, he called in through the window to say thank you for the card I gave him the day before and he said it was a sad day for him that morning.when he got to work.   He said it was hard knowing this was his last day, but he was sure it would get better.  He had tears in his eyes.

I had gone to the post office to mail a card and you won't believe how much card making impinged upon my visit.  I was in  the Federal post office and all of a sudden, the Elizabeth Craft Designs Fourth of July dies flashed before my eyes and I KNEW I would use them for this card.  The mail box is from my Silhouette.

CAS at A2Z

A2Z has a Clean and Simple challenge for September and I chose to work with the Vintage Travel digital kit only available at A2Z Scrapbooking.  All of the images are from this same kit.

Since it's a CAS challenge, I made these very CAS.  The sentiments are my own handiwork.

The theme is to use the color "YELLOW" in your project.

The treasure in this chest is yellow gold.  I thought this chest was so cool and decided it had to hold gold as well as a skeletal hand.  I  doodled circles and half circles to create the coins inside the chest and added some squiggles to the book to create handwriting.  A key to go with the book to lead someone to a treasure chest is what I had in mind.  I posted here.

A2Z "Clean and Simple" with Tiger Lily

I made it easy on myself when I ordered this Hero Arts Clear stamp set (Color Layering Tiger Lily) and ordered the inks cube set, Desert Sun) to use as a first choice of inking up the set.  This ink cube set was a suggested ink combination in the Hero Arts Summer Catalog and I thought the set looked perfect.  I used three colors, Dandelion, Tangerine and Caramel, one for each of the flower stamps, going lightest to darkest.
