I've had this image for awhile, but never colored it until now and am I ever happy with the results.  I usually like to die-cut my images before working on them.  I am afraid I don't decide what colors I'm going to use when I first begin coloring and 99% of the time, I start with the facial color and usually finish with the background.  On this image, I moved to the hat, then the hair, the green leaves, then the dress, lips and finally the background.  This seemed to be the best flow for me and governed the colors I used from the hat, to hair, leaves and dress.  I cut the bottom of the panel to follow the shapes of the leaves and add more interest.

I hope you like Ivy Greenleaf as much as I do.

Let There Be Jungle

The Die Cut Divas' August challenge still has one more day so you can enter.  This is my last card for that challenge, although, it won't be the last time I use these dies.  I am a fan of Elizabeth Craft Designs and love to put the different images in fun scenes.  I was so happy to see this parrot come in the mail to work with.  Since the challenge is "HOT" for August, I made a jungle card with my parrot and safari jeep.  Some palm trees complete the picture.  I made the entire card without the parrot and made that cute light-hearted bird last.  I tucked him behind the wheel for a wild ride.

Be sure to see the other inspirations at Die Cut Divas last day of the month post here.

Below is a closeup from the side so you can see the layers of images
and silver foiled side mirrors, bumper and grill-work.

Hope you enjoy working with Elizabeth Craft Designs products.  I always do.

Card Chain Challenge Reveal

I sent my CCC partner, Greta, a card on our Card Chain Challenge (CCC) and I love the sunset, made just from sponging distress inks across some card stock starting with blues on the bottom.   A friend traded some die-cuts with me and I love this scene.

A big thank you to Greta for taking another photo as my picture made the sentiment look a bit transparent.   I am using Greta's photo.  Updated 8/23/19.

I love the new Christmas Critters from ECD

I purchased the whole set of Elizabeth Craft Designs (ECD) christmas critters and was busy die-cutting for the season.  I haven't made any cards yet, but wanted to get familiar with the dies and how to put them together.  They are now waiting for their turn to be made into cards.

These reindeer are quite adorable.  Be sure to put the wreath around the neck before putting adhering the head.

This is the cutest raccoon and the closest I want to come to one.

Next on my list are the owl, birds and fox.  I love the eyes on that owl.  The birds are without legs as I am going to pop them onto tree limbs.

These birdhouses are fun and I can't wait to make a card with them.

Even though the sleigh and trees are not critters, they are included in the entire critter set of dies.  Happy card making for me.

I had already made a card with the door dies here.  Have a wonderful time crafting and enjoying the time.   Arlene

Happy Birthday on the Feminine Side

I think this is my favorite birthday card I made this month.  I had sponged all different colors of distress inks on 8" X 18" paper from 20 years ago so I could put all my sponges in one place and see the colors.  Using the paper here was definitely the best thing ever.  The colors are fun and summery.  I sent this card to my daughter-in-law as it's a feminine cheery card.  I kept the images in black and white for balance.  I  hope you like it too.

Swim Party Thank You Parrot

This parrot is really so very cute that's I've had to make cards using this cutie, not just for inspiration for our Die Cut Divas' challenge this month, but to send a cute hello for the summer.  Be sure to visit Die Cut Divas challenge of "hot" and enter your"hot" card in a "hot" challenge

You have to love this parrot.  Any color and he's just adorable.  I wanted to use the new door die because a friend opened up her house for swimming to a small group of us who work/worked in the same offices.  I wanted to be sure we had a thank you that was fun and summery.  I think this filled the bill.

I used a black striped card for the background and used the door frame the new Christmas Door die set, (which I personally think looks great against the stripes) and a limb from the new Winter Bird die set with my fun parrot die.  The sentiment is perfect as a description of our day floating and relaxing.

Let's Have A Birthday Party At A2Z

This card flowed from the colors.  I colored the cake in, set aside and looked for a stencil.  I think I used Tattered Rose distress ink to color in the stencil.  I believe I colored the cake in RV colors and used the same color for the flames as the "Happy" die-cut.  I know flames are usually yellow, but I just couldn't use yellow here.  Using the cake as a backdrop, I die-cut "Birthday" in white.  The background makes this card feel and look so feminine.  This turned out better than I thought when I first started with its creation.

When I have scraps on my desk, my mind creates and puts things together, things I would never have thought of, if not glimpsing the little bits and pieces that may litter my desk after a day of card making, die-cutting and stamping.  That's exactly what happened with this card.  You can give this to someone you want to tease about their age (black and white card) or a guy card.

For A2Z Scrapbooking's challenge of Birthdays, please join in and have fun, make a card, have fun, create, have fun...
