Morgan's Artworld Candlestick Phone

Hi there, Arlene here with a card for Morgan's ArtWorld.  I don't know if you remember this kind of phone, but I sure remember seeing those old black and white movies where the actors would hold one of these phones and speak into this NEW-FANGLED devise.

The theme is always "Anything Goes" at Morgan's ArtWorld.
Challenge dates are August 1 to August 27th on Australian Eastern time (Sydney).
You can use any image or project you have created and enter up to three (3) times.

I know there's not much color, but most of the phones I've seen on Pinterest are black and white, so that's what I made with a background of smaller candlestick phones on all the white panels.  Even black and white phones have a certain style.

I think the sentiment is fun with the old-fashioned phone with a "hello" too.

Inside of card.
The die-cut on the front of the card extended just a bit on the inside, so I cute the same die and stamped it with a wood block stamp, "You're old school and cool".

Supplies:
Morgan's Artworld Vintage Phone No. 3
Spellbinders "The Stamp Doctor"  Side Step Card Die (card base)
Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles
Hero Arts wood block stamp "tired of texting"
Hero Arts cling stamp from "My Type"

A Thank You to Cas-ual Fridays Stamps - See Die Cut Divas

Sharing some end of the month inspiration with you and Die Cut Divas.  I used the same sentiment in my first card of the month, but with different dies and background colors, I think it makes a unique statement all on its own.

I cut one treble clef out of a pearly white paper and one out of a navy blue, both left-over papers.  I also used only a heart from cutting the heart at the bottom of the treble clef.  Offsetting the pearly white paper over the navy paper gave me a nice depth and color combo.   I'm very happy with this card and sentiment.

A Big Thank You to Cas-ual Fridays Stamps for their sponsorship of Die Cut Divas.  The challenge at Die Cut Divas ends today and this card is my way of saying Thank you.  The challenge is here ending at 9:00 p.m. Pacific time.

Supplies:
Cas-ual Fridays Stamps Big Treble
Cas-ual Fridays Stamps die Treble Clef Fri-Die
Poppy Stamps dies (both Photo Cuts dies)
Distress Inks Chipped Sapphire & Victorian Velvet
White and red card stock
Vagabond die cut machine

Hero Arts Flickr Scramble

I entered the Hero Arts Flickr group scramble and below is my card.  I had fun putting together odds and ends of my pre-cut, colored Hero Arts images.  I didn't even realize I had these because they kept getting buried under other stamped and cut stamped images.

Some of the guidelines follow:
-  Use at least one Hero Arts stamp (digital included and not just a sentiment), stencil, die cut as focal point.
- Tag your card as quickcard162 (all in one word without spacing)
- Add your card to the Hero Arts flickr group pool (you will have to join the group)

Check out the challenge here.  This challenge ends July 19, 2019 12:00pm PDT (3:00 pm EDT

I took this picture around midnight and used a green folder for the backdrop because I was getting sleepy.  It's a bit whimsical and was fun to make.

Using A Negative to Make a Positive

I used the negative of the Treble clef die here.  First, I die-cut the small photo cut, distressed with distress inks and then die-cut the treble clef, so only the negative of the clef was on the photo cut.  Next I adhered  the photo cut panel to the white card and used a corner rounder to round the bottom of the white card.  I really like how this turned out.

My first card of the month used the actual die-cut from this card.  I was able to make two cards from this one cut.  Yeah for me.  I also used this post on Die Cut Divas here.

Visit Die Cut Divas to enter the challenge of "Anything Goes With an Optional Twist: Patriotic".

A2Z Scrapbooking Sparkle and Shine

Please join A2Z Scrapbooking in this month’s "Sparkle & Shine" challenge for your chance at a free digital stamp set AND, if you used Hero Arts or Sugartree Stamps, a $20 gift card to the A2Z Scrapbooking etsy store

Lots of sparkle and shine here.  The background is from shiny paper covered with Distress Inks and some sprinkles of water. I thought there was so much glitter and sparkle, that I didn't want to add anything but a sentiment.  I did sponge on several distress inks on the card stock to make a more earthy card.

Close-up below:
On my last post of July 3rd, I showed you what I stored my Stickles in and now onward to how I store my Distress ink sponges.   Several months ago I was watching Els of Elizabeth Craft Designs do some sponging on die pieces and replayed the video to see what she used to hold the sponges.  I saw a plastic box and thought "that's what I'm looking for!"  I checked out grocery store plastics for different baked goods and paper stores for plastic containers.  Finally, after picking up something at Michael's I found a plastic box about 7 1/2 by 5 1/4 inches and an inch deep.  I figured I could fit 4 sponges across and 5 down for 20 on each side of the box.  Depending on how many distress inks you have, you may want something larger.  This seemed like a good size for me, one container for my distress inks (35) and one container for my Oxide inks.  I think if you could find a container 3/4 inches deep, that would work out really well too.

This container holds my distress oxide inks.  I labeled the names on the outside of the containers so I don't have to guess.

A2Z Birthday Challenge - August

This card seemed to flow from the colors.  I colored the cake in, set aside and looked for a stencil.  I think I used Tattered Rose distress ink to color in the stencil.  I believe I colored the cake in RV colors and used the same color for the flames as the "Happy" die-cut.  I know flames are usually yellow, but I just couldn't use yellow here.  Using the cake as a backdrop, I die-cut "Birthday" in white.  The background makes this card feel and look so feminine.  This turned out better than I thought when I first started with its creation.

Hero Arts Sparkle and Shine Challenge with a July 4th flair

I wanted to add sparkle and shine to my card and celebrate the USA's July 4th.  Unfortunately, you cannot see the Stickles smeared across the blue stripes of the larges star in this photo.  Even a second try doesn't help.

The round dots are all Nuvo Midhnight Blue pops of shine..  I thought a bike would throw a bit of old fashioned fun into the mix.  The bike is cut from a Cola can, so the tin is very shiny.  I guess that this could be a cool masculine card, looking at the boy's bike.

Have fun with the A2Z Scrapbooking theme of "Sparkle and Shine" this month and let your creations sparkle and shine.

Close-up, but not much sparkle.  I added Crystal stickles on top of the blue and it sparkles quite well in real life, sadly, not so much in the picture.

I do have one additional photo and it's my new storage solution for all (ALL) my stickles and some re-inkers.  You can fit 20 Stickles in this case and some re-inkers will fit double, just not my Distress re-inkers.  But I can fit 10 of those and can SEE them without picking them up one at a time.  Yeah for me.  I am in an organizing mood and on my next post, I'll be showing you how I store my distress ink sponges.

A Hero Arts Garden With Sparkle and Shine

Can you believe I have a Hero Arts die I never used?  I bought it because I wanted a wonderful see-through window either into the interior of my card or into a sunset, sunrise lake, ocean or wherever my creativity took me.

Be sure to enter the A2Z Scrapbooking challenge for July and make your card sparkle and shine!

I created a sparkly card that was very simple, using glitter paper  It just took choosing the right colors and putting them together.  I used a circle die slightly larger than the circle for the Garden Fancy die, glued it to the back of the Garden die cut panel.  The whole panel is raised up from the card stock on foam tape for a rather impressive card in real life.

New Challenge at Die Cut Divas with Cas-ual Fridays Stamps

I love the music related stamp sets and dies at Cas-ual Fridays Stamps.  I couldn't help but purchase this stamp set and die so I could play.  Even if you are not musically talented, like me, this set says all I need it to.

The challenge at Die Cut Divas begins today and this card is an inspiration card for the challenge here.  Since the challenge is Anything Goes with an optional twist (patriotic), I twisted my card to include the U.S. colors of the flag (red, white and blue).  To create the extra hearts, I just cut the hearts from the Treble Clef die.

Cas-ual Fridays Stamps Big Treble
Cas-ual Fridays Stamps die Treble Clef Fri-Die
Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles
Distress Inks Chipped Sapphire & Fired Brick
Red card stock
