Finally Finished With Family Cards

Two more cards for my family - last ones done!  The first card is for my daughter-in-law and the second is for my granddaughter.
I made the same type of card for the gals in the family as the boys, but with different stamps.  I have always like these Rubbernecker ladies and thought I'd use these ladies to depict the wonderful ladies in our family. I paired them with an antique car and some cute sentiments to make some bright and fun cards.

Almost FInished

Sometimes I change my mind on what cards I want to make my family. Some years I have their cards made by September, but sometimes towards the end of December and this was that year.  I finished my cards yesterday.  I will show you my sons' cards here today and my daughter-in-law and granddaughter's cards tomorrow.

I have not one, but three cards to reveal.  I didn't realize how much I would LOVE this image!

I was surprised at how well this basic die shape would suite this image.  I think tilting the image makes an enormous difference too (I have to confess I cut the back panel where you write a message before figuring out where the front image would rest).  I was just clearly lucky.

I took a Copic marker (BV000) and colored the pale bluish panel right behind the image on top of the purple cardstock.

Join Morgan's ArtWorld Facebook Group HERE!

My inspiration card for December is an image that I don't think I would ever have tried, but one of the CTs on Morgans Artworld thought it would be a great image and I thought December was certainly the right time, so I hopped on board.
Do you see the ragged edge?  Well, of course you do!  When I die cut the red card stock, I came very close to the edge of some torn paper and it was a bit ragged, so I thought I'd make this a shabby chic card.  It turned out rather well.  See, you can save almost anything.
I added the floor and the walls.

Supplies:

Morgan's Artworld at Creative Art Design Studio Stardust and Pumpkin 7
Kat Scrappiness Never Ending Square Dies

Check Out Die Cut Divas For the Last Day of the "Anything Goes" Challenge

You only have today until 9:00 p.m. to enter the Die Cut Divas November challenge sponsored by Birch Press Design.  You can make anything as it's an "Anything Goes" challenge.   The randomly picked winner will be published on November 3rd.

Here is my inspiration card for Die Cut Divas using Birch Press Design products.

This was the first card I made with this easy to put together die set from Birch Press Design.  I kept this pretty simple, using a left over store bought card to die cut the colorful mosaic.  I selected a spot on the mosaic that was one color to cut the cap for this bauble.

I also made some glittered Christmas tags without the pop-up mechanism

Close up so you can see the shine of the glitter.

The front of a Journal

My friend, Quadira, showed a group of Toastmasters how to make a lovely journal on Monday night, so I thought I'd share the front of my journal.  This is the type of journal which is made with a regular card and matching envelope size.  Pages are inserted and the holes punched out and tied with string.  I had never made this style of journal and it was fun to see how it all went together.  I wanted to cover up the front of my card, so I embossed this flower and found a stamp & die package I had on my desk with some delightful bird die cuts from a 3D embossing folder.   I had already water colored this bird and it was perfect.

We covered the envelope with patterned paper and created our individual and unique journals.   Thank you to Quadira.

I'm sharing some links to Quadira's websites below.

3D Embossing - First Time

I wanted to try out the 3D embossing folders, so I ordered a Sizzix Texture Embossing folder to test it out and I am quite impressed with the depth of the embossing.  I assume most brand named embossing folders would do the same.

Because I wanted to quickly do a card and see how this would work with distress inks, I sponged Shabby Shutters over most of the card, defining the vining and leaves more and  applied the Abandoned Coral distress ink to the blossoms.  It worked out fairly well, much better than in the photo, in fact.

Supplies:
Sizzix 3D Texture Fades Embossing Folder
Shabby Shutters and Abandoned Coral distress inks
Vagabond die cutting machine
I can't remember where the sentiment came from.

World Wide Open Design Team Challenge for November

World Wide Open Design Team Challenge

You MUST be a DT on any Design Team in the World to be eligible to enter this Challenge ~ New exception rule, this challenge is now open to any of Julia Spiri Facebook Members, and you are not required to be on a DT.

The challenge runs from November 15th through December 12th,
2:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight

This image is so very cute and I could have made the mushroom darker or a different color, but I was in the mood for light and airy, if a mushroom can be airy. I used a marker for the grass, but Distress Oxide for the sky.  Yes, it was a bit hairy sponging the sky in by the mushroom, but I think it came out fairly well.  I drew in some more grass and used only one color Copic marker which I applied lightly in some places creating spots of light and dark on the lawn.

Close up below.

Supplies:
Julia Spiri The Mushroom House

Poppy Stamps Winter Porch Pop Up Easel Set craft die ( I did not use the porch)
