Last Day of the Die Cut Divas' August Challenge

Spending time with Altenew this month.

Die Cut Divas challenge for the month of August is "watercolor real or faux".
"Watercolor real or faux" includes splattering of water on distress inked panels, application of a water spritzed stencil to pull up distress inks from a distress inked panel and smooshed backgrounds, so there's lots of techniques you can go with for watercolor real or faux. I'll leave it up to you.

Not great, but not bad for a beginner to watercolor. Making this into a mini slimline card was just so easy because the die-cut is a perfect size. I might try my hand at more watercoloring - out of my comfort zone and knowledge, but I love how quickly the colors go on. I'm sure you could do much better with this lovely stamp and matching die.

Supplies:
Kat Scrappiness Mini Slimline Embossed Edge Dies
Papers from stash (dark blue is a scrap folder)
Water color paints
Vagabond die cut machine

August With World Wide Open Design Team

World Wide Open Design Team Challenge

You MUST be a DT on any Design Team in the World to be eligible to enter this Challenge ~ New exception rule, this challenge is now open to any of Julia Spiri Facebook Members, and you are not required to be on a DT.

The challenge at World Wide Open Design Team Challenge runs from August 15th through September 12th, Sydney Time Zone 7:00 a.m. or if you're in California, like me, The challenge starts on a Saturday, August 14, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight.

I love that little girl and whatever colors you might choose to color her in would be perfect because she just seems to perky and adorable.  I decided to go with mostly light colors on the scene except for that cut little girl.  I hope I've given you some inspiration and hope you are as charmed by the image as I was and am.

By the way, I embossed the blue panel and found out I had embossed it on the wrong side, however, I thought it made for a unique design.  I wish I knew what company made this folder, but I wasn't keeping track of folders at the time I purchased this.  I do like the unusual texture though.  The snowflakes are an off-white and navy blue.
Supplies:
Julia Spiri Sledding is Fun
Spellbinders die cuts for both the card base & raised panel
Snowflakes & stars from a bag of goodies sent by a friend
Embossing folder - not sure as packaging is gone & no name on folder

August Brings Another Christmas Card

I saw an inspiration photo and chose to use a die that I have never used, but has been in my binder for a year.  I cut the wreath twice from two slightly different green card stock and layered them.  I thought red glitter paper would certainly show the season and then went searching for a patterned background.  It's great to have scraps until you run out.  LOL

I glued the wreaths together, then glued the "Season's Greetings" onto the wreath so I could work with some Nuvo drops for a festive look without being concerned about the paper underneath.  I did use some light blue Nuvo Drops, but they didn't show up that well, so went with white, red and some pumpkin for the rest.

Reveal for Card Chain Challenge for July

Again, lots of options to make a beautiful card for your partner in the Card Chain Challenge.

As you can see, I went SUMMER all the way and I definitely used scraps out of a small piece of yellow and light brown cardstock, plus a scrap manila folder for the sand. The sand die-cuts actually make the shoreline so the only wave I used was the one that's tugging on the surf board.  I used several die-cuts to make this scene and I think it's a happy summer scene.  Who wouldn't want to be on the beach?

Supplies:
Elizabeth Craft Designs Sun & Surf stamps & dies (flip-flops, ball, wave, sun, anchor & surfboard)
Elizabeth Craft Designs Palm Trees (sandy hill & palm trees)
Sunny Studio Happy Camper stamp & matching die (camper)
Cas-ual Fridays Stamps Pinked Slimline Dies (includes the inner die used here)
Copic markers (sky, ball, surfboard, flip-flops, anchor, coconuts & camper)
Vagabond die-cut machine
Scrap papers.

I am a fan of Morgan's canal scenes.  I love them all.  I may have to make a collage of my canal scenes for myself.  The boats intrigue me and I can't help myself, so I had to choose a canal scene this month to work on.  Yes, I just had to.  I think this is the first time I've used the Copic E40s to color a boat, but I like how they came out.

Altenew in August

Spending time with Altenew this month.

Die Cut Divas challenge for the month of August is "watercolor real or faux".
"Watercolor real or faux" includes splattering of water on distress inked panels, application of a water spritzed stencil to pull up distress inks from a distress inked panel and smooshed backgrounds, so there's lots of techniques you can go with for watercolor real or faux.

I actually tried water-coloring. It's not too bad for a beginner; it could be better; not bad. LOL I made a mini-slimline card because the water stamp is narrow and it works great for a mini-slimline card. I chose a dark blue folder to die-cut a panel surrounding the scene, which really pops the entire scene, making the card feel crisp and clean.

Supplies:
Altenew Be a Lighthouse stamp set
Kat Scrappiness Mini Slimline Embossed Edge Dies
Distress inks (ink pad applied on acrylic block sprayed with water)
Vagabond die cut machine
