Witching Time

BUGABOO AND ONE HAPPY CUT
Sponsors for Die Cut Divas

I played with this cute witch and couldn't resist adding this wonderful feather I received in a card trade.  Yes, I did color it this atrocious loud orange color.  I couldn't help it, don't blame her.

This little card is an example for the Die Cut Divas here.

Inside of card - I thought a feather was perfect for the inside.

Bugaboo Fancy SB Witch  (one of the Sun Bonnet images)
Copic markers (I used the T series of gray for the dress and hat)
One Happy Cut - Spellbinders Nestabilities Big Scalloped Squares SM
Die-namics Stitched square STAX
Copic Markers

Using those colors of purple, green and orange are straight from the color wheel.  Oh my gosh.

COLOR WHEEL - TRIAD Violet (Purple), Orange and Green

Check out the wheel below and you can see a simple wheel showing triads.  Red, Yellow and Blue represent a triad.  So even though I simply chose purple as a color to surround my witch, it actually had some color theory behind it, painters' color theory.

Sillyscape Shakes

The Sillyscape was the first digital I ordered from a2z Scrapbooking after I saw Dawn Turley's use of it on a card.  I just got to get it.  It's silly, just absolutely silly and it's fun.  I thought the purple sequins would be as silly as the scape.  I didn't want to obstruct any of the view so I left it without sentiment, using only the sun from one of the Operation Write HOme Hero Arts clear stamp sets. This was fun and silly.  If you have friends in big cities, this may be the digital for you.  I have fiends in San Francisco, California that would think this is perfect.

Elegant Sympathy Card

My girlfriend's father-in-law passed away last week and the funeral was Saturday.  She always spoke so highly of him.  I made a card for her and her husband with a new Elizabeth Craft Designs die featuring Quietfire "With Sympathy".

You do need to use the metal plate, but it was easy to pull from the die.  You really should use adhesive sheets because you don't want glue to smear onto the metallic shimmer sheetz.  The butterflies flew in from the Garden Notes - Bugs & Butterflies die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I really had run out of ideas for a nice sympathy card.  I didn't want anything ostentatious or cluttered or frilly.  I just wanted simple and I think I got it.

This will go into work with me tomorrow so she'll have it waiting for her when she comes into work.

Hugs and warm thoughts to my dear friend.

Winter Gal Keeping the Birds Happy

BUGABOO AND ONE HAPPY CUT

I went out of my comfort zone with this design.  I love this Bugaboo image and thought green was the Xmas color for this lass.  The Spellbinders die-cut is so unusual that it's always fun to design around.  But this time, I didn't have to design.  I used one of Hannah's sketches for the month.   This is my sample for Die Cut Divas and I hope you will submit your card in the September challenge.  Happy crafting.

Shaker Card for a2z Scrapbooking

Sometimes you just have to be a traditionalist and use red and green on white.  When I printed the trees out, I knew I'd use them, but just didn't know how.  I think the trees are perfect for a shaker card.  The white beads are fun and remind me of liquid snow... what?  water?  well, I guess that was strange.   I hope you'll forgive my imagination.  I do like the simple scene.

Close-up of beads and trees.  I printed out a row of trees and found this makes a delightful scene of red, green and white.  The trees show up so well against the white.

Since the challenge is to make a Shaker card, I thought I'd try something simple and fun.  Just like that, I've got a fun Holiday card

Is it Spring Again?

I knew I wanted to create a focus and looked for a camera to provide an unusual view.  I love the .way this turned out.  Using a digital image like this camera was so much fun.  Of course I had to layer hills and a few trees.

Do you know that this deer is my favorite of all time.  I know it's no longer in production, but I love the image and so glad I have the stamp.  There are stamps you keep for years and there are those you use and move on.  Storage is an issue though, but I don't think I'll have to worry about this little dear s"deer" stamp.

I love having digital files because you don't have to store them in baskets, drawers or on walls.  The best thing is that you can reduce or enlarge them whenever you want.  Hence my use of the camera.   After I printed it, I quickly cut it out.  Then I used some leftover hills from another card to make a quick scene.

You can get your digital kit over at a2z Scrapbooking too.  There are so many pieces in this kit to make you a happy card maker.

My First SHAKER

Whoohoo!  Yes, I've never made a shaker card before, but I love the way this card turned out..  I know this looks pretty simple.  But I spent 1 and 1/2 hours looking for something to put in with the houses  How can you have a shaker card with nothing to shake? . I finally found the sequins- big sigh.

I think the houses are so cute.  I had to cut them out and make a little scene.  The Swiss Dot embossing folder made a plain background come alive.  I covered white paper with a Copic Snow Green (G0000) color for the cool landscape.  Even though this isn't snow falling, I think the sequins add a delightful flare.
a2z Globe Sept 2015

I love how just moving one house behind a piece of paper gives a three dimensional feel of distance.  The houses are equal in height, but the house in back is thinner and appears taller than the house in front.  I usually color, but didn't even color anything but the hill.  I like the fact that I can color or just flow with the pre-colored houses in the digital kit.

Two for One

That's a TWO for ONE) Two sponsors for one challenge.  Head on over to Die Cut Divas for the month of September.  I tried out one of Hannah's sketches for my sample for September 1st.  I decided to use a Bugaboo Stamp and a Die from One Happy Cut.

This bride is such a feminine classy and classic image.  She is a gorgeous image and marvelous to color.  And who doesn't like the classic Spellbinders' rectangle dies?  I have my Spellbinders on a magnetic matte on the wall, so I'm not sure if this is from the small or large set.  They've become mixed up on my matte.   The patterned paper is on a diagonal, but you really can't tell, but I KNOW it is and I meant it to be.
