Birch Press Challenge

Today is the final day of the Die Cut Divas' challenge, so be sure to enter the challenge before 9:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time as the challenge will close.

Our Sponsor's Prize is a $20 gift card, so be sure to play for a chance to win.

The challenge is to use a layered dye set or to layer a Die over another Die.

I absolutely fell in love with this poinsettia die.  I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful poinsettia die ever. I love the detail and I think you could use either markers or distress inks to color this poinsettia.  I did use a nature type die set with this beauty and this great sentiment.  As I checked for a background, I found a square of paper in my stash to use.  This really is an amazing die.
I die cut this in white paper and used Copic markers to color the red leaves and to swipe over the white top layers of each leaf.

Waiting Until The Last Minute

Waiting until the last minute - oh well.  I almost forgot to make a card to play with the Craft Roulette categories as I am having an issue with getting my photos from my main computer onto any blog posting.  I have to send an email to myself with an attachment of my photo and pick it up on my laptop to insert it into my blog post.  At least I know my issue is on my computer and am trying to solve it.

The Categories are as follows with my interpretation:
Project: Cardstock + Not Cardstock (Card base + paper pieced elf hats)
Colors: Santa's Workshop (any color - rainbows, elves...)
Element: Collar(s) (Elf collars)
Random: Zig Zag (green zig zag ribbon)

I almost forgot the zig zag

Kat Scrappiness Slimline Rainbow die set
Kat Scrappiness Santa's Helper stamp and dies

California Dreamin'

 California Dreamin'

Thank you to Linda of DCD for sending me this great stamp set from Hero Arts.  Linda found the right place for this stamp set and I had fun creating this fun card.  A little Copic marker here, a little Copic marker there and it's off to a friend who moved to Illinois from California.  I'm here to stay, no snow for me to shovel.  LOL

I'm having trouble inserting my photos from my files and I will work on this, but I can download directly from my photos.  This is a small card, but one that will be well received by my friend in the Chicago area as she lived here in California for most of her life.  AND she's coming back for a visit soon, well, fairly soon.

This is a small square card, but perfect to fit in an A2 envelope. Wait until you see the cute envelope I made for this card.  I think Lesley's mailman will be hearing Owl sounds coming from his mailbag.

Inside of card and a perfect sentiment

The Envelope below - that's right.  I blame Kat Scrappiness for making this cute stamp set.  There's a separate owl and lots of fun sayings.  I wrote the name and address inside the large house and mailed it on its way after checking with the post office that I could indeed mail this.  What a cute surprise awaits my friend when she receives her mail in a few days. To color this image, I put paper in the envelope just in case the markers bled through to the back.

Supplies:
Hero Arts Golden State
Kat Scrappiness Owl Envelope Art Stamp set (only $4.99 right now)
Rubbernecker Nested RC Square - small die set
Kat Scrappiness Never Ending Square dies
The Paper Studio enamel dot - yellow

A Challenge For Me

This was really a challenge for me!

Here's the categories for Craft Roulette that I had to put together to make a card.  Finding a large flower was one of the hardest items for me.  I couldn't find the exact thing I wanted so I decided to use this rose embossing folder and make it work.  I mean, What the Elf was I doing with a flower in my elf scene?  It's quirky enough that I'm going to send this to a guy friend.

Even though I hadn't heard of the Cat Lovers Challenge, I wanted to show my support at Christmas Kickstart Challenge as a remembrance of Janis, the founder of Cat Lovers Challenge.

There are so many images to choose from and new ones all the time.  I am working with an image that I thought required a larger surface than usual to color because there were so many things to see that are in this delightful image.  I just added some sequins to the sides as I thought they looked like bubbles floating up. I thought a short sentiment fit perfectly.

A Card For A Teacher

 Friday with Craft Roulette

The wheel went round and round, round and round
and when it stopped, the categories were:
Project: Card for a teacher
Colors: Tartan
Element: Autumn or Spring
Random: Wrap(s)
It took me until the next morning to think about what stamps and dies I had that would fit the challenge.  All of a sudden, I thought of the Art Impressions Matchbook stamp and die sets.  And YES!  I had a set for a Teacher.

I lifted the top so I could take a close-up.  I'm going to give this card to my oldest son, who is a math teacher.  I think he'll enjoy this.

Please do remember that this is the size of a matchbook.
Project: Card for a teacher - fairly obvious that this is for a teacher
Colors: Tartan - background
Element: Autumn or Spring - background colors and bright yellow flowers represent spring colors
Random: Wrap(s) card wraps itself up flat to be wrapped in the envelope

September Card Chain Challenge

September's Card Chain Challenge has ended and our cards are being revealed at the Card Chain Challenge, where we really do send and receive creations from all over the world.
So many options to choose from.  I wonder...

I made a Fancy Fold card with a new set I colored in and I thought the sentiment fit fairly well.  LOL
Now, I also worked this card into qualifying for using Foxes, Autumn AND Friendship to go along with Fancy Fold.

Side view (the other side has a fox)
It really is such fun to make cards to send to others.

October With Morgan's ArtWorld

The October Challenge for Morgan's Artworld is

"Anything Goes" October 1st to October 27th.

You can use any image or project you have posted in September. For purchasing Morgan's ArtWorld Images, please visit the website at
Morgan's Fitzsimons Art Studio

I chose a lovely woman, Kate Cameo 1, from Morgan's digital images and I don't think you can go wrong in coloring her. I rarely choose colors for an image before I start coloring just as in this instance. I colored the background, and skin, then the top of the dress and eyes.  I'm not sure why I chose a pale purple (a Copic  BV000 first) for the hair, but I did.  I knew the flowers had to be a mellow yellow and actually added some yellow to her hair.  I received this fab rectangular die cut in white, but used Copic B2 to color the entire die cut and added a bit of B2 to the top of the dress on the left side and blended that out.  I'm quite pleased with her.

Supplies:
Morgan's Kate Cameo 1
Spellbinders Oval die cuts
Unknown die cut - gift from about a year ago
Background is from a calendar and is a rushing waterfall
Altenew Enamel Dots Lapis Lazuli
Copic markers
Vagabond die cut machine

October With Birch Press

Welcome to a month of Birch Press inspiration and fun.

The Theme for October is "Layered Dies or Layered Die Cuts".  Layer your die cuts on top of each other.  See my card below as an example of layering your die cuts.  You  may have a die set that is meant to be layered, each die cut is part of the whole image.  That qualifies.  My card qualifies too.  I layered the "hello" die cut over the String Art die cut and then layered the small sentiment die cut over both.  Maybe I get points for that.  Maybe not.  LOL

The prize is a fantastic $20 gift card to our random winner.

I'm hoping you can see the shimmer on this card.
Supplies:
Birch Press Contempo Greetings stamp & die set
Birch Press String Art Nativity Star - not on website anymore, but you could use
String Art Frame for much the same effect.  I just had not even used the String Art die, so wanted to do something different with it as an Hello Card.
Oxide distress inks Fossilized Amber & Wild Honey mixed together
Altenew Ink Spray Iridescent
Vagabond die cut machine
