I've used this beautiful die before and thought I'd change it up a bit.  I chose cream and a kind of mustard color which worked together better than I could have imagined.   I put my flower on all kinds of papers that I have and found one 12" X 12" piece that seemed just made for this color combo.  Combining the other two Birch Press dies with the poinsettia was a no brainer.  I can't believe how much I like this.
  
There is a new poinsettia that is made similarly to this one.  I believe it has a couple more leaf dies and a center for the flowers. 

The new Classic Poinsettia Contour Layers has the same wonderful leaves to layer together as this flower here.  I do, so, love this - my favorite poinsettia.  If I didn't already have this die, I'd buy the Classic Poinsettia.

Craft Roulette Strikes Yet Again

Why did I say Craft Roulette strikes yet again?  Do you see the challenges with this set of categories the wheel spit out?  Tri-Fold cards are definitely out of my comfort zone, but I can make them with a twist of my arm.  Sleigh Ride Colors means lots of white for me and the views would be lights in the windows, black shadows during the night or sun during the day and all manner of jackets and scarves.  Now come the kickers - a joke and something out of proportion.  Out of proportion sentiments fit in while something funny are the ostriches
(they must be out pulling the sleigh).

Last week's Craft Roulette Play

I finally had time to play with the challenge that the Wheel set for us at
Kraft Roulette.

I just got this in at almost the last minute because I was working on some other projects.  I have a photo list of all my stamps, dies and stencils saved under the manufacturer/seller names.  Every time I order something, I put it and a photo on my list and I love being able to SEE what's in the stamp/die set, not just what the name of it is.  So very helpful.

I'd forgotten I had this envelope full of flowers that I had colored, but never used and it was obviously perfect for the challenge.  I hit project, colors and crown (the top or highest part of something) just with this one set.  Then I looked up and the Altenew die stared me in the face challenging me to use it, again, never used before, wait, never even die-cut before.  The die has so many strips that I couldn't help but use the die.  I think the peach color makes it feel soft and warm.

I went with Friendship and ink (Copic markers).  I made my first Lawn Fawn Magic Picture Changer and believe me, I am all thumbs sometimes.  If I could put this together and make it work, you can.  I quite love it.  I don't know why I made it so complicated, but it's easy peasy.

December Card Chain Challenge Reveal

 Yes, it's time again for a Card Chain Challenge Reveal!

December is always a special month at Card Chain Challenge with a very special challenge.  Not the regular Tic Tac Toe... NO.  It's 
Tic-Tac-Tic-Tac-Toe!

I'm choosing the 2nd row down. 
Bloom, Bird, Banana color, Bling and Bokeh 

I chose a die set that has blooms as part of the design so I wouldn't have much trouble working a bird or flowers into the whole image.  I have to confess that I almost forgot the bird.
I purchased a wonderful pad of paper that is perfect for both the banana color and bokeh (the pleasing or aesthetic quality of out-of-focus blur in a photograph) in its pages, a two for one.  If you look at the sky through the flowers in the basket, I think the sky has an out of focus blur to it. I'm sticking with it even if you don't think so.

I'm Playing Elf At Christmas Kickstart Challenge

 I know it's the middle of summer (for us in the Northern Hemisphere), but I'm an ELF this month!

My inspiration card uses the Poppy Stamps Bird House Pop Up Easel die which made it so easy for me to quickly make this type of card.  I'm all for saving time.  My Cardinal is glittery and he was in my stash already created so I think I took some clear Wink of Stella to the torso.  I like cutting and coloring a bunch of images at the same time.

I absolutely love working with the canal boats and this scene was so easy to work with, however you might want to make sure you don't mistake smoke for a tree, but I did a great cover-up job.  Do you see the smoke under the bridge?  I thought the smokestack from the boat was a tree trunk with a branch going into the tunnel.  OOPS.  I turned the yellow-green tree into smoke by adding C7 for a dark gray smoke.  Also, if you look above the left flowering tree, there is still a tinge of yellow-green as I somehow mistook it for the beginning of a tree with the same saving treatment of C7.

I chose stamping with a Julie Nutting doll that I can't find anywhere to identify this little gal that has a letter in her hand, a 2014 design.  The background panel was made years ago and feels like I stamped and stenciled with distressed inks on a watercolor paper.  This is a mini slimline card and seems to be a great size for the smaller Julie Nutting dolls.

July with World Wide Open Design Team Challenge

 World Wide Open Design Team Challenge

You MUST be a DT on any Design Team in the World to be eligible to enter this Challenge ~ New exception rule, this challenge is now open to any of Julia Spiri Facebook Members, and you are not required to be on a DT.

Here's a card just because... meaning because it's your birthday, I miss you, I wanted to just send a note!  You can send this not only to a boy, but to anyone who's still a kid at heart.  I decided to color the tag first and then work on the big boy card.  The strips of paper for the background were all cut with rectangle dies and stored in a baggie for times such as these. 

The challenge at World Wide Open Design Team Challenge runs from July 15th through August 12th, Sydney Time Zone 7:00 a.m. or if you're in California, like me, The challenge starts on a Wednesday, July 14, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight.

Reveal Card Chain Challenge For June

  I always try to join in the Card Chain Challenge (CCC) as it's so much fun to receive something in the mail!  I chose "Things that Fly".  I knew exactly what I wanted to use when I saw this option listed.  I have never used the die before and it had been languishing with some other unused dies until this challenge.  I wanted something bubbly for the sky - a look of airiness about it, so I chose this digital paper to use.  

Below are all the options to complete the challenge, so you can see it's fairly simple to find an option that fits your style, stamps, dies...
