I'm Having A Cas-Ual Fridays Kind Of Day

I know many people love their coffee, so I thought a cheerful cup of coffee card would be a hit with a friend of mine.  I made a mini-slimline card as a base and the details just emerged.  I used a Cas-ual Fridays slimline die-cut, put the die-cut back into the die and cut it shorter.  I used part of the left-over die to stamp the sentiment, put the cardstock back in the die and cut it again.  I don't know if that makes sense, but it's what I did.  I'm very happy with the stenciling and happy feel this card has.

The Coffee Cup Dies set contains the large and small coffee cups as well as the word "Coffee".  Rather than put a sentiment on the cup, I thought the little coffee cups were a great alternative.

Mid Month Reminder for Christmas Kickstart Challenge

 This year has had me making Christmas cards every month, so I'll certainly be ready for the season.  Here are my latest mini-slimline cards made as inspiration for the Christmas Kickstart Challenge.  There are now challenges with Christmas and Winter so you can find one that fits your winter cards.

Seasons Greetings on a Christmas Kickstart Month

I'm the elf for the Christmas Kickstart Challenge this month.  This challenge is always about Christmas and this month, it's also about MINI-SLIMLINE cards, so get ready, get set, GO!

As guest, I was able to choose the challenge of the month, so if you don't like mini-slimline cards, blame me!  I'll gladly take the blame.  

The challenge starts May 2nd at 10:30 a.m. GMT or 2:30 a.m. Pacific time, San Francisco, USA and ends May 30th.  

The card base for a mini slimline card is typically 3" X 6" (7.63 X 15.24 cm).   These are approximate sizes and we won't be checking to see if your card meets the exact standard for either size. )

I decided to make a simple but fun card for my first card - first? - yes, I had to make two.  I used the same darling Santa in both my mini-slimline cards.

A Balloon Toast

 I made a card for a friend I made through Toastmasters (20/20 Visionaries in the Sacramento area via Zoom).   I was able to give her my card last week because I flew to Chicago to visit her.  We had a great time with me giving her a hard time about the COLD.  She would respond with "poor California girl".  Since she has opened her card, I can now post it.  I thought making this image part of the party balloon was fun and cute.  She agreed.

I do love that Big Balloon die and I only used it once about six months ago.  Shame on ME!

I also love scenes and so I made a slimline scene card for my partner in the Card Chain Challenge.  I always look forward to these exchanges.  Because so few of us engage in the actual mailing of cards, it's very special to send out a card and to receive a card.  I hope more of you will participate in the Card Chain Challenge.

Sometimes you need a sympathy card and I wasn't sure how I would color this at first.  I die-cu the image with a mini-slimline die.  I started coloring with yellow and then went to a dusty rose color on top of that for the rose.  Since I color with Copics for the most part, I started with Y04 on the candle flames, using Y00 for the glow and touches of YR00 and Y04 on the flower petals.  Shadows on the candles have a light touch of E40.  Only two colors on the leaves, G17 and YG21, which I would never have used except I wanted yellow glow on dark leaves.

I hope your creative juices are flowing as I'm sure the first of the month is always busy, but I took time off to play. I hope you do too. The Die Cut Divas challenge is starting today and I've made something to show you.

I had the Love Notes stamps in my stash and had never opened the package.  Shame on me!  I was able to line up the music score and the sentiment stamps on my Misti and stamp everything at one time.  I have used the treble clef die before and I think everything works well together on this card.  Those last notes are black, not red or brown.  I couldn't seem to take a picture that maintained the true color.
