I had a friend who loved my last entry in the Christmas Kickstart Challenge and wants me to make 24 cards for next Xmas, however she wanted the sentiment, Merry Christmas. Since I was using a glitter pack I purchased more than 5 years ago, I don't think I have enough to make 24 cards, so I wanted to see how the Red glitter paper still in the pack would work and YES, it's beautiful too. Using a colored notecard really brought out the sentiment and deer.
I'm entering the Christmas Kickstart Challenge today.
Supplies:
Choices, Choices, Choices.
Before I show you my card, I wanted you to see the choices I had to choose from. I love these challenges - always some snail mail for me at least once a month - pretty snail mail too!
Now for my card for my partner Helen G. in Ohio, USA!
I had a lot of fun with this card. I first stamped the Julie Nutting image, die-cut with my slimline dies and colored the image in. I like to know the surface I'm working with so that's why I usually die-cut my images before I color them. I decided to stamp over the panel with some script and had found a bubble stencil that I knew I had to use. I really like the effect of both stamping and stenciling.
I had to stencil the envelope too! LOL
You would think one simple item like a deer would be easy, but no, I couldn't think of something to make. It wasn't until I was working on another card with the snowflakes and a new reindeer die that I put it all together. This particular card is for the Christmas Kickstart Challenge.
This snowflake die makes such a lovely, delicate image. I wanted some glitter and chose some Glittered Cardstock that I've had for ages. This bronze glittery color gives a luxurious feel to the greeting and stylized reindeer. Crisp and neat was the style I was going for and easily achieved for this card. The notecard rim is brushed with clear Wink of Stella, however, it shows up smudged in the photo because the card is loaded with it.
One more card done for the holidays.
World Wide Open Design Team Challenge
The challenge runs from January 15th through February 12th, Sydney Time Zone 7:00 a.m. or if you're in California, like me, that's on a Thursday, January 14, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight.
I think you could make this owl suitable for a guy or a gal with the change of hat and scarf colors. Any message would be appropriate. I just plucked the image into Word and added my own sentiments to this darling Owl. So much fun playing with colors too. I had to make two cards. I don't think I have time for 3 cards, but you never know.
I made all slimline cards for my kids (adults) and their significant others, including my granddaughter.
I unfortunately deleted some snap shots, so some cards are entirely missing, but they did make it to their intended victims (loved ones).
This card went to my daughter-in-law. The gal is behind the sleigh here.
