Thank you Card.

Here is my Thank you card to the Die Cut Divas sponsor, Hero Arts.  I made the background for another card and didn't like it as the background for that card, but found it perfect for this one.  The note card is actually a very dark brown, not a navy blue like it seems to appear in this photo.  Hope you enjoyed February.

Supplies:
An old Hero Arts butterfly
Elizabeth Craft Designs Cloud embossing folder
Elizabeth Craft Designs Thanks Die
I think the distressing ink is frayed burlap
Copic markers

Just Flitting By

These new butterflies are flying all over the place and I hope you like these as I was trying out some colors and I hope I can remember them.  I took the same distress inks to sponge the white note card.

Be sure to visit Die Cut Divas for the February challenge.

Strawberry Time Yet?

I picked up the new Strawberries from Elizabeth Craft Designs at my LSS (The Stamp Art Shoppe) in Roseville on Saturday and had to play right away.  I hadn't played with this particular Accordion card style for a while and it took a bit of time to decide on paper and such, but I love the results.  I also love those strawberries.  I took red, green, yellow and brown papers, but sponged them darker (except for the yellow paper) with distress inks and tried Copic markers on the second card, very similar results as to shading that I wanted.

I cut several strawberries, so you're sure to see them as I craft and find some time to work with my new dies.  I got the wheel barrow too, I know it's been out for some time, but I just got it in a shipment of dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs because the clearance is fantastic on the older dies and such.

Here's how I used the wheel barrow.  I know the wheel barrow is too small for the strawberry, but I think it turned out quite cute with this sentiment by Hero Arts.

Mask This

I used a die-cut to mask off the white space on the front of my card.  Sponging the card front with Distress Inks, Ground Espresso first, followed by Carved Pumpkin with a sponging of Broken China on top created this eye-catching frame.  I stamped a sentiment and now I have a birthday card for my son.

I took the die-cut I used to cover the front of the card and moved it to the inside where I think it's a surprise for the recipient.

Supplies:
  • Hero Arts Enjoy Today clear set CL759 (front of card)
  • Hero Arts Happy Birthday to You wood stamp F6068 (stamp on die-cut)
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs Katie Label Accordion Card die
  • Ground Espresso, Carved Pumpkin and Broken China
  • Cuttlebug

You Make My Heart Flutter

I love matching die and stamp sets.  That gives you so many options.  When I think of February's challenge at Die Cut Divas, I think pink, whirling butterflies, and that fluttering feeling in the tummy.  My sentiment continues from the outside to the inside.  "YOU MAKE my heart flutter" is the sentiment, but I divided it to fit part on the outside and part inside.  Take a look at the outside.  And yes, the black and white is from a up-cycled tissue box.

I think this card has a feminine, but modern feel to it.  Someone gave me a tissue box that reminds me of a zebra and I couldn't resist using it.

Why Don't We Add Flowers?

Morgan's ArtWorld and February

The challenge begins.  Add flowers.  This is my sample for the Morgan's ArtWorld challenge for February.  I love this image, but I had to take a step back to decide how I wanted to color the flowers in the image.  I went to Facebook to see if I could find this image and I did!  I love Christine Ingram's card and the way she colored the flowers.  I only hope I have done something close to the level of beauty that Christine put into coloring the image. Here is the blog post by Christine. Thanks to Christine's coloring, I was able to make the flowers look like flowers.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you too, will love this image like I do.

Flowers with Love

This is not a tag, but a tag card (A2 size).  I masked the flowers and decided to use some flower colors I don't normally use, such as brown on the tips of the flowers.  I didn't want an ombre background, but used a piece of torn paper to make the background masking each layer below.  I was going for a mountain, wild type of background and I like this.  I plucked a ladybug and put it on one of the flowers.   A2Z Masked Flowers FEb 2016

You Stole My Heart

A valentine card does not have to be red.  I chose this wonderful distress ink color, Lucky Clover to make what look to me like bubbles.  When I thought of masking, this die came to mind.  I have used it once, maybe.  I wanted to see if I could make a background and I really like it.  Because the die is thin, I can't sponge, but rather press the sponger onto the card and die-cut.  It was worth a try and I like the way it turned out.  It's a bit whimsical and I don't think I've really done whimsical all that many times.
