Last Day of Die Cut Divas' Challenge

I've always loved Hero Arts and creating is never more fun than when you have stamps you love.  I'm sharing a stamp set that may not be in the Hero Arts website, but still available elsewhere.  I made this card for my son's birthday.

The challenge at Die Cut Divas is a FUN FOLD challenge and I guess my (die) Christmas present makes this a really FUN FOLD way to say Happy Birthday.

I'm so excited about the prize too - a $25 gift certificate to the winner!

On with my inspiration project for the Die Cut Divas!

Fabulous Awesome Friend

I made a simple design with a fabulous stencil using Distress Ink fossilized amber. The design impressed me even more after inking it up. I had to go with black sentiments, stamping the "fabulous" and then die-cutting the "Awesome" and "friend" in black glitter paper. As soon as I finished it, I needed a card to send to a fabulous friend who just got out of the hospital.

I usually don't write sentiments in my card or decorate, but I just had to tie the outside and inside of the card together.

Supplies:
Cas-ual Fridays Stamps "Starlequin" stencil (out of stock right now)
Cas-ual Fridays Stamps Bomb Diggety stamp set
Kat Scrappiness "Awesome"
Cas-ual Fridays Stamps "friend" (out of stock right now)
Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles
Hero Arts black decor (enamel dots)
black glitter paper from stash
Distress ink fossilized amber
Vagabond die cut machine

Card Chain Challenge for February!

It's always so much fun to participate in the Card Chain Challenge each month.  I love to receive a hand-made card in the mail.  It's a little gift of love to hold in your hand each month.  You can check out all the cards at Card Chain Challenge here!

As soon as I saw "Polar Bear" as an option, I knew one item my card would have, yes, a polar bear.  Since Valentine's Day is in February, I also thought hearts should occupy a spot on my card and in my heart.  I used the same Copic color (BG10) on everything that's colored, hearts and friend to the bear's hat.  Obviously the more saturated the paper, the deeper the color.  My sky is a deep Navy, part of a packaging from years ago.

You can see the options below with the supply list following that.

SUPPLIES:
Elizabeth Craft Designs Polar Bear
Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles
Elizabeth Craft Designs Adventure Edges
Sizzix thinlits die set friendship words

I will enter this card in the following challenges:
Dies R Us (AG w/DRU die) #163
Simon Says (Wednesday - Add some texture lots of hills & hearts & a bear)
Simon Says (Monday - favorite technique - using dies is my favorite technique)

Just a Little Ol' Birthday Card

I couldn't resist some stamps from Rubbernecker.  I rarely make birthday cards and all of a sudden I needed FIVE Birthday Cards for this month.  I'm afraid this balloon birthday stamp came too late to make a card with for this month.  When I received it, my first thought was a slimline card with one of those fabulous Rubberneck gals holding the balloons.  I found the perfect one (in my stash) and I love how this turned out.

After sponging the background with Oxide inks I sprinkled drops of water and dabbed them dry.  I stamped, die-cut the balloons and gal and colored them.  The images are popped up on foam tape with some enamel dots finishing off the card.

I am very happy that I purchased the coordinating dies for both gal and especially the balloons.  I'm sitting here pretty satisfied.

Supplies:
Cas-ual Friedays Stamps Pinked Slimline dies
Rubbernecker Birthday Balloons stamp and die
Rubbernecker Daniella stamp and die may be out of stock
Hero Arts Decor (enamel dots in blue)

Julia Spiri Flowers

World Wide Open Design Team Challenge

You MUST be a DT on any Design Team in the World to be eligible to enter this Challenge ~ New exception rule, this challenge is now open to any of Julia Spiri Facebook Members, and you are not required to be on a DT.

I got to play around with a cute little owl this month as a Guest Designer for DT World Wide challenge. I think the dear is adorable and could be a Christmas owl or equally a Winter Owl with something to say to a friend.

The challenge runs from February 15th through March 12th, Sydney Time Zone 7:00 a.m. or if you're in California, like me, The challenge starts on a Sunday, February14, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight.

I really am thrilled with the results here.  I'd seen so many beautiful renditions of this image in December of last year, that I was rather intimidated when I started to color this image.  I used yellows (Copic Ys), light oranges (Copic YRs) and light pinks (Copic R01, R02) to color the flowers.

 Original image below.

Take your time and it will be worth it.
Supplies:
Julia Spiri Poppies
Elizabeth Craft Designs Rectangle dies
Copic markers
Hero Arts Sentiment (sorry for your loss) - Everyday Sayings
Altenew sentiments (Stay Strong) - Be A Lighthouse

MAKE A SLIMLINE CARD

I went searching for images for my slimline dies and found these cute bunnies.  A few Copic colors and some Nuvo drops was all it took.  I did color the sky with Copics, but I made several cards with these cute bunnies and used distress inks for the sky and snow, saves on your Copic colors.  I used Nuvo drops for snow.  I like the pebbly feel to the "snow".

A brand new image for me!  I guess I'm into blues and had to color this gal in blues and lavenders, also coloring the light blue matting panel with a Copic marker.  I wasn't how well the scarf would go with this girl's outfit, so I used a light touch to get a feel for the color.  I didn't want it to stand out, but also didn't want it to blend in too much either.  There is that fine line where you can achieve a balance.  I think I hit it here.
