Last Day for Die Cut Divas' challenge with Birch Press Design

This is the very last day you can join the Die Cut Divas' challenge.

The July Sponsor for Die Cut Divas is Birch Press Design

The theme is TONE ON TONE
The Winner will receive a $20 gift certificate.
Now for my cards

For this card, I tried different ephemera and sentiments, but actually liked this card unencumbered, just as it is. I used all RV Copic markers on die-cut and image (except for skin tone) and I'm really pleased with it. It makes me HAPPY! LOL

I have had this calendar scene since 2010 (I know because I cut the calendar off) and finally found a way to put it to use.  I couldn't throw this lovely scene away (heavy duty card stock) and thought the this worked out quite well.  You might say a little "Love" goes a long way.

Obviously I Love This String Art Frame From Birch Press Design

I really couldn't stop playing with the String Art Frame, as you can tell.  You can create so many gorgeous cards and get a little creative too.  I had a piece of alcohol inked paper and saw this piece as part of the earth in clouds and went with it.  I mounted the String Art Frame on a navy panel, affixed a sentiment and it was done.

When I was coloring one of the frames, I tore a piece and then thought of making a circle with two partial frames, so cut another partial frame and rotated the frames so both outer edges would show in slightly different colors.  I now have a totally different shape made from the same die.

Some String Art Without The String

I've never tried string art (using real string), but I don't mind giving the illusion of doing string art with die-cuts

Be sure to join the Die Cut Divas' challenge of Tone on Tone this month.

"Tone on tone coloring or layering, is a decorative technique that takes a single or a few colors and uses different saturation of that color(s) throughout the space. The result is a room that can be dramatically transformed just by lightening or darkening of that color."

My friend, Linda, sent me these String Art Corner and String Art Circle die-cuts and I had to absolutely use them NOW.  In keeping with the Die Cut Divas' challenge of Tone on Tone, I used a sheet of alcohol inks in my stash and added both Birch Press Design die-cuts with a short sentiment in the middle of the circle to complete my card.  I just added some pale green gems and that's all it needed.

Supplies:
Birch Press Design String Art Corner
Birch Press Design String Art Circle
Little B Handwritten
Alcohol inks
Vagabond die cut machine
Pale green gems (in my stash)

Winter House Turned Halloween House

My Haunted House

I watched a video by Jennifer McGuire on a Winter House Pop-Up Easel set and fell in love with the house.  She showed how to turn a Winter House into a spring/summer house with flowers, but the first thing I wanted to do was create a Halloween House!  I had a glitter paper pad with a bunch of colors and found a purple I thought would be perfect and it is!  Finding things I wanted to put in the windows was a bit harder, but I was focused.  I really LOVE how this turned out.  I almost hate to give it away.  I even used the snow because I thought using black glitter paper would be perfect for a scary house and it is. I know it's early for Halloween, but, maybe not.  This is a pop-up easel card and the house is resting against a black stopper strip with BOO as a simple sentiment.

July with World Wide Open Design Team Challenge

World Wide Open Design Team Challenge

You MUST be a DT on any Design Team in the World to be eligible to enter this Challenge ~ New exception rule, this challenge is now open to any of Julia Spiri Facebook Members, and you are not required to be on a DT.

Here's a card just because... meaning because it's your birthday, I miss you, I wanted to just send a note!  You can send this not only to a boy, but to anyone who's still a kid at heart.  I decided to color the tag first and then work on the big boy card.  The strips of paper for the background were all cut with rectangle dies and stored in a baggie for times such as these.

The challenge at World Wide Open Design Team Challenge runs from July 15th through August 12th, Sydney Time Zone 7:00 a.m. or if you're in California, like me, The challenge starts on a Wednesday, July 14, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight.

Reveal Card Chain Challenge For June

I always try to join in the Card Chain Challenge (CCC) as it's so much fun to receive something in the mail!  I chose "Things that Fly".  I knew exactly what I wanted to use when I saw this option listed.  I have never used the die before and it had been languishing with some other unused dies until this challenge.  I wanted something bubbly for the sky - a look of airiness about it, so I chose this digital paper to use.

Below are all the options to complete the challenge, so you can see it's fairly simple to find an option that fits your style, stamps, dies...

I chose "Things that Fly".

Supplies:
Elizabeth Craft Designs Swirling Swallow
Whimsy Stamps digital papers Green Bokeh
Kat Scrappiness Ice Ice Baby enamel dots

Die Cut Divas Sponsor is Birch Press Design. Challenges begin on July 1st  and end at 9:00 p.m. Pacific time on July 31st.

I am tying the two together here because the Morgan's Artworld image seemed to work so well with the Birch Press Design die-cut.

I've used this image once before with the rose colored in blue, but I just wanted the lovely rose as the focal image when I paired it with my new die-cut. I used a combination of Copic colors on the rose and framework (R81, R83 & R85) with R89 to give it an extra punch  I love leaving the leaves uncolored.  It's quite striking in real life.
Supplies:
Morgan's Artworld Flower 2
