My Note Book Cover

I know I'm doing things a little backwards, but it will all work out.  I've completed my cover for the Note/Thoughts/Artsy things I want or need to remember. I finished my first page on March 20th here.   I like the bright and cheeriness of the cover - makes me want to open it and see what else there might be.  I really only have one page finished, so I have a whole lot more to do.  It might be nice to make the back to keep the pages all neat and safe too   I am very pleased with the cover to "Arlene's Notes".   I like the way the new Ranger Oxide inks worked on this cover.  The cover is made out of chip board and coated with white acrylic paint as a base to work with.  I taped the stencil on at the bottom and inked away with a blender tool. I pulled the tape off and blended some more.  I printed the cup in light blue, but it was too light in color so I colored it with a copic marker.  A bright idea occurred to me to use hearts instead of lines for steam.

I opened the cover and caught a peek of the page I finished last month.

Talk about the Weather

If you like to use Cut Files, have fun with the Weather, I say.

I always loved seeing umbrellas in the old English movies, tons of umbrellas keeping off the rain.  Now I love the colors that you can purchase and all sizes.   Isn't the saying "April Showers Bring May Flowers?"  And you can't do anything about whether it rains or snows, so why not appreciate it.  That's why I made a card with umbrellas over a map.

My sample for Fabrika Fantasy is a fantastical image.

I'm one for fantasy, whether it's reading, movies or images.  So are my sons.  This card is sitting on my desk for my son's birthday.  He's a teacher and likes science fiction and fantastic dragons. I thought this fit the bill.

Fabrika Fantasy is the sponsor for Die Cut Divas

This is the first time I've ever used Fabrika Fantasy digital stamps.I am certainly glad I was introduced. I'm in the coloring mood.  I usually don't use the color yellow either.  I was in the color yellow mood and love this.

The nymph is part of a larger landscape, but I wanted to concentrate the attention to the nymph.  Be sure to visit Fabrika Fantasy here.

Let's Have a Toast Wth all the Drinky Mice

I needed a quick card to give a friend for a birthday.  I needed a gift card for her.  I had some pre-cut card panels and set about making my card.   The mice are actually on the panel for the front of the card.  I folded it this way so you could actually see both sides fairly well.

This is the close-up so you could see those funny mice.

My Notebook has a Butterfly Stencil

Stenciling is this month's challenge.  I made my own stencil here.
stencil-a2z-logo-challenge
The second page to my notebook (still not sure what I'm calling it) has a patterned base and two pockets.  On top of the top layer, I stamped different words and phrases over a homemade stenciled background, while on the base I used a couple of the images in my home made stencil   If you don't have a stencil you want to use, you can make one to your liking by using your dies.   The first image is my page without the tabbed notes inserted in the pockets.  The top pocket is raised.

I added my tabbed notc cards into the pockets so I know what I've worked on and ideas for the future.

Hero Arts Scramble today - YEAH

I think my phone turned out super.  Why?  Because with the Misty, I can stamp over and over until I get the coverage I want, a nice deep black.  I think I would have used this set more if I had the Misti then.

The challenge, for me, was not that easy.

Rules:
 Three of something
 Light blue or blue/green color
Daffodils (any color) or a yellow flower

The flower is an abstract flower and I thought this would be a cool card for a teenager.

To get an aquamarine color, I put stamp to ink pad (chipped Sapphire first and then Distress Oxide Cracked Pistachio)  It's a really unique color.  What the heck, if you don't try something, you'll never know if it works.

I made this doughnut card as a Happy Birthday card for my boss at work.  Whenever I hold a meeting, he asks, "Are you bringing donuts"?  He's the donut champ.  I couldn't pass this colored digital by and I saved my coloring except for the BG0000 Copic marker showing here and there.  I think my boss is the one in a coma.  hahaha

Hero Arts Butterfly Fancy Stencil

A2Z Scrapbooking has a great challenge to enter - stenciling.  You can use your stencils to create depth and and shape.

If you don't have a stencil, you can create your own, which is what I've done here.  I am not exactly creating a journal, nor a notebook or a book of images or designs.  I'm not sure yet, what it will end up being, but one has to make a start at least.  I needed something to keep track of challenges and designs as well as being fun.   I made a page to fit a grunge book which I am painting white.  This will be a page inside the book.  I chose a patterned paper and used a stencil of various sized dots, then die cut the butterfly to use it as a stencil.  I sponged white Unicorn ink into the holes and along the border of the butterfly stencil.   I would not have used the white inked butterfly except that it brought out the outlines of inked butterfly image that I stenciled.

I added some words and small gems, white reinforcements and a digital image for color.

Die Cut Divas New Challenge - March 2017

TheAwesome Sponsor for March 2017 at Die Cut Divas is Di's Digi Stamps

This is the terrific theme: For the Love of Animals

I made a tag. I couldn't get over the wonderful images and I even purchased come colored images too. I found this too delightful and had to have it in both colored and uncolored format. This is the pre-colored image. Isn't it great?

I don't live in the snow, but loved this old fashioned mail box and colored digi from Di's digi Stamps. Even though there's rarely snow in the Sacramento area, my friend does live in snow country. The print-out was so rich in color and I would have chosen similar colors, so I did tint the snow with Copic marker BG0000. This is a marvelous color to give you an icy tint to things.

Hawaii

Die Cut Divas' Sponsor for February is none other then Hero Arts and this is my sample card for the blog.

Just use Red or Pink in your creation.

This is the first time I've used the Hawaii stamp.  I bought it December and thought I'd start the month with Hawaii in mind, especially after all the rain we've had.  I want some nice sunny weather and since I can't go now, I can dream, stamp, and color.

This stamp is a lot of fun to color and dream of vacations in the future.  I used some scrap paper as a background, dotted some Nuvo Crystal Drops and die-cuts using the back side of the background panel.

Touch of Pink

Just a touch of pink.
The challenge at Die Cut Divas is to use Pink or Red

I made a simple card, but I think it turned out rather good.  I really haven't used my Dylusions sprays very much and I had a go at it.  I die cut some white card stock.  taped the die-cut down with removable tape, started at the bottom with the lime, worked up with the blue and ended with the pink.  I pulled the die-cut up and decided to spray the palm with one solid color.  I wiped excess off and let it dry.  Since I wanted to leave some of the white behind it, I adhered the die-cut so peaks of white could be seen under the blue palm leaves.  Hope you like it.

Supplies:
Hero Arts Palm Fancy Die - always a favorite of mine

Sympathy Card - Unfortunately Needed.

The theme for February is Any Shade of Red.   I made a Sympathy card for a friend who lost his wife for our co-workers to sign.  She was the sweetest person.  We were all in a daze when we heard.  The card is large so more people can sign - it's an 8 1/2 inch by 12 inch card stock folded in half.  I think this card shows we care.

Poinsettia in Gold

I had two very favorite stamps and dies sets from 2016.  The coffee cups and cuts offer so many possibilities that I want to use them year round.  Then I couldn't put down this poinsettia stamp, either using it with the outline die or all three dies.  I've used this die on boxes and cards and am still loving the versatility.  I guess I have a start on next Christmas.  I kept it rather simple here.  You can't see the paper I stamped this on, no matter how many times I tried to catch swirls in this swirly pearlescent paper. The honey colored panel is a bit shiny too.

This sample is for the Die Cut Divas' challenge of pink or red.

Butterfly Digital in Shades of Red

Any Shade of Red - what a great challenge theme for February.

I received this wonderful die on an exchange of cards and found a slate background that would remind everyone of night.  I printed the images from this Winged  Friends Printable Butterfly Digital.  I was drawn to this butterfly, cut it out and used myu Copics to bring it to life.  I am pleased with the outcome.  What I like most about digital images is that you can resize them to your needs and wants.  Try them.

Coffee, Tea or Cocoa at Die Cut Divas

One of my favorite stamps and dies are the Coffee Cup Tags and Coffee Cup Tags Cuts. Unfortunately, they are out of stock now.

Still I want to share them with you. They don't have to be just a Christmas time stamp and you can definitely use the dies at any time of year.  I have TWO cards to share with you.

I'm also revealing my CCC card in an exchange at The Card Chain Challenge. At first, I didn't get overall coverage, but since I used my handy dandy Misti, all ends well.

January Challenge at A2Z Scrapbooking

Image may contain: flower and text
Anything Goes:  What a great challenge for the beginning of the year.  I think of New York City with the Ball dropping at Times Square.  Imagine the dawn sky and this image was what I thought of.  It's wonderful for an early start on the year  the month or the adventure of the day.   Since this was an "anything goes" challenge, I chose a wintry effect for January, much in contrast to my sample for January 1st of the Golden Gate Bridge in its sunny glory.  The same kind of editing was done in Word.  Go to Format and then Color and play with it.  It's wonderfully freeing to be able to make your stamp
any size you want.  Each day, I learn something new.  To the NEW YEAR!
