A Christmas Kickstart Challenge Card

I had a friend who loved my last entry in the Christmas Kickstart Challenge and wants me to make 24 cards for next Xmas, however she wanted the sentiment, Merry Christmas.  Since I was using a glitter pack I purchased more than 5 years ago, I don't think I have enough to make 24 cards, so I wanted to see how the Red glitter paper still in the pack would work and YES, it's beautiful too.  Using a colored notecard really brought out the sentiment and deer.

I'm entering the Christmas Kickstart Challenge today.

Supplies:

  • Poppystamps Stained Glass Snowflake
  • Poppystamps Dashing Reindeer
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangle
  • Wink of Stella
  • Glittered paper from stash
  • Vagabond die cut machine

January Choices With the Card Chain Challenge Group

 Choices, Choices, Choices.

Before I show you my card, I wanted you to see the choices I had to choose from.  I love these challenges - always some snail mail for me at least once a month - pretty snail mail too!

Now for my card for my partner Helen G. in Ohio, USA!

I had a lot of fun with this card.  I first stamped the Julie Nutting image, die-cut with my slimline dies and colored the image in.  I like to know the surface I'm working with so that's why I usually die-cut my images before I color them.  I decided to stamp over the panel with some script and had found a bubble stencil that I knew I had to use.  I really like the effect of both stamping and stenciling.

I had to stencil the envelope too!  LOL

Supplies:
Julie Nutting stamp from 2014
Hero Arts cling stamp - unsure of name of the stamp
Magenta Bubbles stencil
Kat Scrappiness Embossed Edge Nesting Slimline Dies
Sizzix friend die set
Copic markers
Distress ink Broken China

Christmas Kickstart in January

You would think one simple item like a deer would be easy, but no, I couldn't think of something to make.  It wasn't until I was working on another card with the snowflakes and a new reindeer die that I put it all together.  This particular card is for the Christmas Kickstart Challenge.

This snowflake die makes such a lovely, delicate image.  I wanted some glitter and chose some Glittered Cardstock that I've had for ages.  This bronze glittery color gives a luxurious feel to the greeting and stylized reindeer.   Crisp and neat was the style I was going for and easily achieved for this card.  The notecard rim is brushed with clear Wink of Stella, however, it shows up smudged in the photo because the card is loaded with it.

One more card done for the holidays.

Challenge #46 - Such a Deer!

I'm entering the Christmas Kickstart Challenge and hope you too begin your Xmas cards in January!

Ollie Owl is Skiing Her Way Into Your Life from Julia Spiri

World Wide Open Design Team Challenge

You MUST be a DT on any Design Team in the World to be eligible to enter this Challenge ~ New exception rule, this challenge is now open to any of Julia Spiri Facebook Members, and you are not required to be on a DT.

I got to play around with a cute little owl this month as a Guest Designer for DT World Wide challenge. I think the dear is adorable and could be a Christmas owl or equally a Winter Owl with something to say to a friend.

The challenge runs from January 15th through February 12th, Sydney Time Zone 7:00 a.m. or if you're in California, like me, that's on a Thursday, January  14, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight.

I think you could make this owl suitable for a guy or a gal with the change of hat and scarf colors.  Any message would be appropriate.  I just plucked the image into Word and added my own sentiments to this darling Owl.  So much fun playing with colors too.  I had to make two cards.  I don't think I have time for 3 cards, but you never know.

Card # 2 below

I goofed up on this one.  I was coloring the sky and pulled red from the tassels hanging down from the hat, so now I've made them look like braids.  I was unwilling to toss this because of two booboos, one on each side.

A Mixture of Dies and Fun

I made all slimline cards for my kids (adults) and their significant others, including my granddaughter.

I unfortunately deleted some snap shots, so some cards are entirely missing, but they did make it to their intended victims (loved ones).

This card went to my daughter-in-law.  The gal is behind the sleigh here.

Now you see the sleigh pulled to the right with the gal beside the sleigh.

This is the inside of the above card with more shopping to be done,
but Santa came to visit too.
Supplies:
Stampin Up two-sided paper from their Heart Warming Hugs paper selection
Lots of sleigh/accessories dies and sentiment from Elizabeth Craft designs. (The die-cut for the gift card is from an outdated sleigh die-cut set)  I LOVE IT!
Gals & Santa from Rubbernecker

At Die Cut Divas, it's how you "Frame It" and the Divas have done some "Framing" themselves, so please check out Die Cut Divas.

Rachel Vass Designs specialized in beautiful floral hand drawn digital stamps.

The challenge winner will be able to pick
three digi stamps from her store.

I used a few Copic markers to color the flowers, keeping it bright and cheery.  I then took the black marker 100 and colored the area around the flowers to accentuate the colors in the flowers.  They really pop.  I just purchased some ECD Brick colored 12X12 paper and thought I'd frame the panel with it.  The color really does match up so well in real life.

Supplies:
  • Rachel Vass Designs Circle of Hope digital stamp
  • Die-namics Nested Circle dies
  • Copic markers
  • Elizabeth Craft Brick 12x12 paper
  • Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss - Simply White
  • Vagabond die cut machine
